Overview
For the fiscal year 2009, we received $138 million in contributions and grants. This allowed us to:
- Send more than $4,893 of humanitarian aid for every $30 donation.
- Help more than 4.5 million people.
- Mobilize more than 2,000 volunteers to help those in need.
- Provide dental care to 17,000 people in the Pacific Northwest.
Breakdown of Expenses

- Our supporters included individuals, corporations, foundations, churches, schools, estates and the U.S. government.
- Private donors account for 60% of our total cash gifts.

Overhead
More than 97% of gifts go to our programs and services. The contribution of thousands of volunteers’ time and millions of dollars in donated medicines, supplies and equipment helps Medical Teams International keep its overhead to an astounding 3%.
Coupled with highly efficient programs and careful fiscal oversight, Medical Teams International is able to deliver $4,893 of humanitarian aid for every $30 donation.

In December 2008, they named Medical Teams International one of their 30 "Shining Light Ministries" for the fifth year in a row. Forbes magazine picked Medical Teams International for its “Gold Star Top 10” list (2003). The designation, compiled from a survey of 200 top charitable organizations across the country, lauded the relief agency for how efficiently it collects and distributes charity.
